The balance of power in the SEC is shifting folks and the Kentucky Wildcats are having a HUGE role in changing it. The Cats Pause (Rivals.com) and ESPN.com are both reporting that 3-star South Carolina Athlete David Sims (5-11, 205, 4.4) has verbally committed to the Kentucky Wildcats. Sporting an offer sheet as big as almost anyone in the country, Sims, out of St. Matthews (where UK signed fellow future Cat Donte Rumph), was offered by several big schools including fellow SEC teams South Carolina, Tennesse, and Florida, two of which we assuming they had him in the bag and one of which is so shook up by the news they are crying foul(sad i know). He has all the makings of a big time everydown back with the elite speed, Linebacker-caliber strength, and a great understanding of the game (he plays both QB and Defense for his High School). Regardless of where he winds up on the field at Kentucky this guy will eventually make an impact and it will be sooner, rather than later.
Joker Phillips’ fingerprints are all over this recruitment once again and it is becoming remarkable how much success Kentucky is having in places like South Carolina and Georgia, both which began with Phillips’ recruitment of Rafael Little and Wesley Woodyard respectively but have since turned into HUGE pipelines that are allowing us to effectively compete in the SEC. Sims’ commitment also has the potential of solidifying yet another big time signee with the Cats. Eric Mack a HUGE tackle out of St. Matthews currently lists UK and USC as his favorites, was a recent visitor, and according to Rivals’ talent evaluators is a potential 5 STAR TACKLE for 2010 weighing in at an astonishing 6-4, 310 already! Just another day at the office for a rising Kentucky Football Squad, look for more Norfolk St. coverage coming soon.
